Thanks, Nunzia. Well-stated, as always! And I couldn't agree more.

Andy, it's disappointing that you chose to attack me and my faith rather than to address the focus of my post: the cover-up and full knowledge of the Church hierarchy and the blatant hypocrisy therein. You can say what you will, but you do not know me from my blog post any more than I know you. As a Christian, I'd simply advise you of exactly what I titled my post, in the words of Christ: "Let he who hath no sin cast the first stone." And we have come full-circle. Godspeed to you, and may The Lord, our God, open your heart to civility toward those with whom you may not agree.

I'm answering the response you haven't approved yet, so it won't make any sense until you do, Perry. Here it is.

Anthony, you're an idiot. Before you start pretending to know dick about dick, it might behoove you to, I don't know, do some research. There's this cool tool called Google. Here's the thing, oh ye who knows squat, Hindus aren't required to be vegetarians, especially if they live outside northern India. Yet another white guy who thinks what he thinks is the only truth. Just shut up, dude, before you embarrass yourself further.

You're not a Catholic any more than a KFC regular is a Hindu. Why the hell do you call yourself a Catholic when you disagree with their doctrine? Why do you cling to it? In fact, why do you call yourself a Christian when you disagree with what is written in the Bible?

Oh, and by the way, nobody goes to hell for loving someone. They may go to hell for having homosexual SEX and not repenting. Its not got anything to do with love. It has to do with the act of homosexual sex which dishonors the body. Then again, why the hell am I even writing this. You voted for Obama, who in case you've forgotten, voted three times in the Illinois senate to allow for doctors to kill babies who were born after failed abortions (you can look it up, 'Born Alive Infant Protection Act'). Do you think Christ is happy with your buddy Barack on that one? What a joke.

If you don't believe homosexuality is a sin, or that murdering a baby is a sin, that's okay. You have a right to think that way. We don't live in an Orwellian society. But don't support those things and then pretend to be a Christian, because you're not. Like I said, a Hindu who frequents KFC is not a Hindu.

Allen Vigneron omits other Catholic views that should lead to self-excommunication, but more importantly, self-refusal of Eucharist -- advocating or supporting: the death penalty, sex outside of marriage (fornication and adultery), and war or violence.

That will never happen because the pews and the collection baskets would be even more empty.

Thanks for coming by Lauren, and thanks for the kind words! It's summer, and I am blogging again! Hooray for vacation!

There are about 5-7 southern, and red, states that are not going to accept the money for federal funding of ACA programs. That is, until after their gubernatorial elections in November. Whaddya want to bet that they all pose with the big checks and take credit after that, a la stimulus??? They are also, sadly, states with 20% uninsured. Ah, that kinder, gentler conservatism.

You are dead on. They relabel, rename and re-propagandize everything. Grassroots, my ass!

Thanks for putting your two cents in, GF! Always smart and savvy writing from you - much appreciated, Sistah.

Eloquently stated.

I watched Chuck Todd this morning. The head of Planned Parenthood was his guest. In Texas, they're defunding all healthcare programs that benefit women.

What folks don't know. The war that Republicans have been waging under the radar against minority voters, women, and the middle class.

The GOP uses Orwellian language to promote their agenda, like the Doctor Patient Medical Association (DPMA), another GOP backed group that's working to repeal the healthcare law.

The Doctor Patient Medical Association (DPMA) and the Patient Power Alliance (PPA) work to repeal health care reform[1] and call themselves a "a nonpartisan association of doctors and patients dedicated to preserving free choice in medicine."[2] The organization is a member of the National Tea Party Federation[3] and the "American Grassroots Coalition."[4]
Ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council

The DPMA is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). DPMA Chair and Co-Founder, Kathryn Serkes, is on ALEC's Health and Human Services Task Force.

It's probably too late to rename the bill as it's been passed. Plus, it would look shamelessly political. It was something the Dems should have thought of when they first started writing the bill and when Obama first started talking about it. That's when he should have harkened back to IKE. IKE also warned of the dangers of a military/industrial complex. It was one of the last speeches he made before leaving office. Except for that nasty little covert overthrow of a democratically elected government in Iran because the Brits feared they were going to nationalize the oil fields and dragged us into it, IKE was a pretty decent guy. Ford was another decent guy. I voted for him, but mostly because I liked Betty. :)

Thanks for the kudos, Jayne - you are far too generous, my friend! I agree with you completely...of course you know how I love infrastructure! I was talking with The Hubby the other day about how unrecognizable the GOP has become, and how, oddly, I would have made a damn good Eisenhower-era Republican, which really kinda creeps me out, but makes sense...Your idea about naming it the Eisenhower Transportation bill is inspired, especially if it had provisions regarding employment for vets. I think we should put it together as a petition on the White House petition site. We'd only need 5,000 signatures to get a response from The White House. Hell, that's only 1 vote for each of our twitter followers. Just saying. You in? :) Seriously!

The biggest public work project in history was Eisenhower's Interstate Hwy project. We were coming out of a war. Lots of soldiers were coming home and needed jobs -- kind of like now. That legislation helped to lift the whole economy and created the beginning of the longest period of prosperity we've ever had. I've long thought that Obama should have name the current bill the "Eisenhower Transportation Bill" and then let the GOP try to thumb their nose at it. Interesting that today Eisenhower wouldn't recognize his party, much less be welcome in it.

Another excellent piece,Heidi.
