Yes, the debate sucked. For whatever reason…

There’s quite a backlash online this morning…90 minutes of lying with no fact-checking. In a matter of months, this will be forgotten. It’s disheartening, but without the Commission on Presidential Debates running things, and with mics off in-between, I figured as much would happen. Trump didn’t have a chance to be as rude and crass, cutting the President off, and the President couldn’t interrupt and fact-check – god knows the mic stands they employed as mediators didn’t do it. 

This debate is so far out from the election, the earliest yet, and the public has a short memory. The President should keep fighting. The campaign has a truckload of moments to make into commercials. My favorite: when Trump kept nodding in agreement with all the horribly offensive things he has done, simply adding.”I did not sleep with a porn star.” Yeah, let’s check the court transcripts, shall we?

Pres. Biden had a rough night on the first debate, but historically, so did many a winning candidate. So what so we do from here? online needs to calm down, douse their hair-on-fire responses. The campaign needs to keep putting out the many accomplishments of the most accomplished progressive President in 50 years, one who kept families, students, veterans and the working class, not corporations and himself, in the forefront.
